Craft Fair

I am going to take the plunge: I'm going to be in a craft fair this summer! It's actually the 4-H Fair, but I'll have a table in the craft show area and I am sooooo excited! Bought a tent this weekend, and more beads, pretty boxes to display my cards, and I'm psyched! More preparation to do, and I know this will be an investment of sorts, but if this is something I love doing, shouldn't I pursue it?

I just made this necklace for a customer at the salon where some of my jewelry is displayed.

Handmade Cards

Here are two handmade cards I'm sending out this week.
Happy anniversary, Sandy and Sam!
And happy birthday, Robyn!

What is it about making these that I love so much? All of it, I guess. The paper, the colors, the ribbon, the flowers, the tiny, shiny rhinestones. LOVE my threading water border punch. The chance for creativity. I would make these all the time, if I could only justify spending that much time on them.

Quote

A quote from Marianne Williamson that I read today and has stayed with me . . .

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

My very first blog post

O.k., this one probably won't be anything spectacular, I'm really just starting out, but-here I am! My own blog (woo-hoo!) I suppose my first task is to figure out what I really want to put in here. I don't know yet who will be reading this, and maybe no one will, but that's o.k. I guess I'm really doing this for myself, at least for now. Why? So I can practice my writing a bit, and build up my writing confidence . . . I'm thinking that in my job search that's something about me I should emphasize, so here goes. I suppose doing this is also about me wanting to leave a mark on cyberspace. I twitter a little, but have only one follower (no one I know twitters! at least, not the names I've searched). I'd also like to start keeping a virtual journal, of books I'm reading, music I'm listening to, events in my life . . . and also posting photos, or recent scrapbook pages, cards, or jewelry I've made. My biggest challenge, I think, will be to make this interesting and creative.
